With the World Cup on everyone’s mind, it’s hard to avoid the craze, which is a good thing for a football fan like me. While in Puerto Rico this week, I found myself at an Argentinian restaurant, an hour before their match with Mexico (no need to repeat the score). They were promoting the hell out of Quilmes, the only beer I actually know of from Argentina. I can’t tell if it’s me or not, but I can never turn down ordering Quilmes when it’s on the menu. i suspect it isn’t as much about the taste as it is about the simplicity and nation-inspired color used in the logo/bottle design. While i haven’t been to Argentina, I can’t help but feel like Quilmes is a strong ambassador for its country.

I’ve participated in a wide array of events in the past and I’m starting to wonder why good design can’t make its way to non-profit organizations. I mean, sometimes the best advertisement is word of mouth—and wouldn’t a well-designed shirt be a good way to help build a brand?

So I’ve had this urge to get a blog going over the past couple of years, but I haven’t had the ambition to really put my heart into it. What has happened to me, as with most would be bloggers, is that you just can’t commit the time to it that you aspire to. I’m hoping that 2010 will be the year I’ll make it happen and happen in a meaningful way to me. Because after all, most web journals are a bit self-indulgent aren’t they?

So what am I gonna do with said blog? Well, over the past few years I’ve been feeling a little uncreative. I sorta miss the feeling of creating something with my hands without the aid of a computer. After going to the AIGA Make/Think conference in Memphis this past fall I felt semi-inspired to kick my computer to the curb when a creative urge strikes. I hope that this site serves as an outlet for me to post my personal creative re-examination. We shall she if it sticks…
